Meeting of the Great Rivers National Scenic Byway
Scenic Highway · Alton, Illinois
Thirty-three miles of road pinned between limestone bluffs and the water where the Mississippi, the Missouri and the Illinois rivers come together — three of the great rivers of North America meeting inside a few miles of each other. It runs Alton to Grafton and on to Pere Marquette, and in winter it is one of the best places in the lower forty-eight to see bald eagles.
Illinois Route 100, Great River Road, Alton, Illinois, 62002, United States
A public highway, open at all hours and free. Sections close in high water, most often in spring. Eagle season is January and February.
