Meramec State Park
Subnational Park · Sullivan, Missouri
Sixty-eight hundred acres on the Meramec River about an hour from St. Louis, and one of the oldest and most heavily used parks in the Missouri system. There are over forty caves in the park - the dolomite bedrock here is riddled with them - of which Fisher Cave is the one shown, on a lantern tour rather than the electrified walkway most show caves use. The river is the other half: floating, swimming and fishing, with outfitters running the stretch below the park.
115 Meramec Park Drive, Sullivan, Missouri, 63080, United States
FREE and open daily year round. FISHER CAVE IS BY GUIDED TOUR ONLY, ticketed, on a seasonal schedule - generally spring to autumn, closed in winter, and it is a LANTERN-LIT WILD CAVE TOUR rather than a paved show cave. Tours sell out. The visitor centre keeps seasonal hours. Camping and cabins are reserved and book out for summer weekends.
