Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes

The most accessible dunes in Death Valley, rising to about a hundred feet directly beside Highway 190 near Stovepipe Wells. There is no trail and no route — you park and walk into them in whatever direction you like, which is rare enough in a national park to be the whole appeal. They stood in for Tatooine in the original Star Wars.
