Miami Beach Art Deco Historic District
Historic District · Miami Beach, Florida
Roughly eight hundred buildings in Tropical Deco, Streamline Moderne and MiMo across a square mile of South Beach — the largest concentration of Art Deco architecture anywhere in the world. It exists because one woman, Barbara Baer Capitman, fought the demolition of the whole district in the late 1970s and got it onto the National Register in 1979, at a point when the buildings were considered slums.
1001 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, Florida, 33139, United States
Public streets, open always. The Art Deco Welcome Center and its tours keep daytime hours.
