Michigan City East Pierhead Lighthouse
Lighthouse · Michigan City, Indiana
A square white light tower of 1904 standing at the end of the east pier at Michigan City, reached by an elevated steel catwalk that runs the length of the pier and is the feature that makes it the most photographed structure on the Indiana lakeshore. It replaced an earlier light and worked with the 1858 Old Lighthouse now standing on shore as a museum. The pier projects from Washington Park, a municipal beach and marina at the eastern edge of the Indiana Dunes.
Washington Park, 115 Lakeshore Drive, Michigan City, Indiana, 46360, United States
The pier and the park are open daily; the pier is closed in winter and in rough weather. The lighthouse interior and the catwalk are closed to the public at all times. Washington Park parking is charged in the summer season. The Old Lighthouse Museum on shore keeps limited seasonal hours.
