The only International Dark Sky Park in Illinois, designated in 2018, on seventeen hundred acres of restored prairie and oak woodland in rural Champaign County. It sits on the Middle Fork of the Vermilion River — the state's only National Wild and Scenic River — far enough from any city that the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye, which is not something the rest of Illinois can offer.
