Miedzyzdroje and Wolin National Park

A Baltic Seaside Resort On Wolin Island With A Long Pier And A Walk Of Fame, Backed By Wolin National Park (1960), Poland'S Only Coastal National Park With 95 M Gosan Cliff And Bison Reserve. A Summer Holiday Resort For Poles And Germans From Berlin · Miedzyzdroje, West Pomeranian

Miedzyzdroje is the main Baltic seaside resort on Wolin island, about 60 km north of Szczecin, with a wide sandy beach, a long wooden pier and a Walk of Fame of film stars' handprints along the promenade. Behind the town rises Wolin National Park, Poland's only coastal national park, with beech woods and the Gosan cliff, about 95 m high, which gives a view over the sea. A bison show reserve in the park lets visitors see the animals in enclosures. The resort fills with Poles and, in summer, German visitors from nearby Usedom and Berlin, and it has a strongly seasonal feel: July and August are crowded and the Baltic stays cold, while winter is quiet and many shops shut. Swinoujscie and the Usedom border are a short ferry and drive away. It suits families and walkers in summer who want sand and a promenade. It is not a swimming destination for warm water, and outside the season the detour is rarely worth it unless you want the cliff and the forest.

The beach and promenade are free and open at all hours, but lifeguards work only in the summer season, commonly from late June to late August. The pier is open daily in the season, usually with a small entry charge, and may close in storms or winter. The Walk of Fame is free on the promenade. Wolin National Park trails are open in daylight, with a charge for some entries, and the bison show reserve has seasonal hours and may close one day a week. Museums and shops are shorter and often shut from autumn to spring. Confirm hours and what is free near your date.
