Fifteen hundred acres on the west side of Grand Rapids built out of exhausted gravel pits, landfill and industrial ground along the Grand River — one of the largest urban parks in the United States, and entirely reclaimed land. The old quarry pits are now the swimming lake, and the beach sits where the gravel operation used to.
