Millwood State Park
Arkansas State Park On Millwood Lake, A 29,000 Acre Shallow Reservoir In The South West Corner Of The State, And One Of The Most Productive Birdwatching Sites In Arkansas With Well Over Three Hundred Species Recorded. · Ashdown, Arkansas
Millwood is a shallow twenty-nine-thousand-acre reservoir in the far south-west corner of Arkansas, full of standing timber and stumps, and it is one of the best birdwatching sites in the state - well over three hundred species have been recorded here, which is more than anywhere else in Arkansas and draws birders from Texas and Louisiana as well as in-state. The same shallow flooded timber makes it a serious bass and crappie lake. The state park on the eastern shore is small: a campground, a launch ramp, a pier and a visitor centre. The lake is the attraction and the park is the way onto it.

Open year-round and Arkansas state parks charge no entrance fee. The launch ramp, pier and shoreline are open dawn to dusk. The visitor centre keeps daytime hours with reduced winter hours. Campsites are booked through Arkansas State Parks. The lake is shallow and full of standing timber and stumps - navigation demands care and local knowledge, particularly away from marked channels.
