Milwaukee Public Market
Food Market · Milwaukee, Wisconsin
A two-floor food hall at the north end of the Historic Third Ward, opened in 2005 in a purpose-built glass and brick building on the site of the city's old commission-row produce trade. It holds around twenty vendors — fishmonger, butcher, cheesemonger, bakers, a spice merchant, taquerias and a lobster counter — with a mezzanine of seating above them and a demonstration kitchen. It is free to walk into, it is where Milwaukee buys cheese, and it is the single easiest introduction to Wisconsin food in the state.
