Minnesota State Fairgrounds

Working Farm · Falcon Heights, Minnesota

Three hundred and twenty acres of permanent fairground between Minneapolis and Saint Paul, and for twelve days ending on Labor Day it holds one of the largest state fairs in America — roughly two million visits, and the highest average daily attendance of any state fair in the country. Minnesotans call it the Great Minnesota Get-Together without irony. It is an agricultural fair before it is anything else: the livestock barns, the 4-H judging, the crop art and the butter sculptures carved from ninety-pound blocks are the spine of it, and the food on a stick grew up around that.

1265 Snelling Avenue North, Falcon Heights, Minnesota, 55108, United States

The Minnesota State Fair runs for twelve days ending on Labor Day in early September — that is the only window, and there is nothing to see outside it. Admission is charged per person per day, with discounted advance tickets on sale months ahead. Free park and ride buses run from lots around the metro and are the sensible way in. Outside the fair the 322-acre fairgrounds host events year round on their own schedule.
