Mint Museum Randolph
Art Museum · Charlotte, North Carolina
The first art museum in North Carolina, opened in 1936 in the building that had been the United States Branch Mint - moved stone by stone from its original site on West Trade Street when the mint closed. It holds the Mint's ceramics and decorative arts collections, its American and European painting, and a substantial collection of art of the ancient Americas. It sits in the Eastover neighbourhood, three miles from uptown, with free parking and a fraction of the crowds.
