Mississippi Aquarium

Aquarium · Gulfport, Mississippi

A purpose-built aquarium that opened in Gulfport in August 2020, spread across several acres of indoor galleries and outdoor habitats on the harbour side of Highway 90. It is organised around Mississippi's own water — the Delta rivers, the coastal marsh, the barrier islands and the Gulf beyond them — rather than the generic global tour most aquariums run, and it keeps bottlenose dolphins, African penguins, river otters, alligators and sharks. It is the Gulf Coast's main wet-weather destination and the thing that gets a family through a rainy day between the beach and the casinos.
