Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth
Art Museum · Fort Worth, Texas
Founded in 1892, it is the oldest art museum in Texas, and since 2002 it has occupied a Tadao Ando building of glass pavilions standing in a reflecting pool — an object as admired as anything hanging inside it. The collection is post-1945 and serious: Pollock, Rothko, Warhol, Richter, Anselm Kiefer, KAWS. It sits directly across the road from Louis Kahn's Kimbell, which is the best architectural argument in Texas.
3200 Darnell Street, Fort Worth, Texas, 76107, United States
Admission charged — check themodern.org for current hours and pricing, which I could not verify to this project's standard. ⚠ The Tadao Ando building and its reflecting pool are OUTSIDE the ticket line and free to see; best in the hour before sunset. Directly across Darnell Street from the Kimbell.
