Mont-Tremblant
Ski Resort / Laurentians · Mont-Tremblant, Quebec
Mont-Tremblant is the best known ski resort in eastern Canada, built on the highest part of the Laurentian Mountains in Quebec, roughly 1.5 hours north-west of Montreal. At the foot of the mountain sits a car-free pedestrian village of brightly painted buildings, shops, restaurants and hotels beside Lac Tremblant, linked to the slopes by a gondola. Skiing runs roughly December to April. In summer the same mountain turns to lake swimming, cycling, hiking, golf and festivals, and late September brings strong autumn colour. It suits families, couples, intermediate skiers and Montreal weekenders who want a polished resort with everything in one place. It is also busy and expensive at peak times, and the vertical drop is modest compared with western Canada, so expert skiers may find it limited. Allow a weekend at least, two to five days for a proper stay. Mont-Tremblant National Park, run by Sepaq, is a separate park nearby, so confirm which one you mean.

The resort operates through the year, with two main seasons. Lifts usually run from about December to April, with the exact opening and closing dates depending on snow, so confirm on the resort site before booking. Lifts normally start in the morning and close in the late afternoon, and night skiing may run on some days. In summer the gondola, luge and activity areas open on a seasonal schedule, often late May or June to October, with shorter hours in shoulder weeks. The village shops and restaurants keep their own hours and are quieter in November and April. Mont-Tremblant National Park, by Sepaq, has its own seasons, fees and gates, so check its hours separately. All dates, hours and prices change by year, so confirm before you travel.
