Trembling aspen, birch and oak cover the plateau, with marshes, small lakes and wild open meadows between. The park's main centre is Kenosee Lake, with a sandy beach, cabins, a campground, a golf course and a small resort village that makes it a holiday spot for families from southern Saskatchewan and North Dakota. Hiking and mountain-bike trails run through the woods, and cross-country ski trails are groomed in winter. Moose, elk, deer and many birds live here. July and August weekends are busy, and mosquitoes and ticks are present from late spring to August. A vehicle park pass is needed - confirm the current price. Fuel and groceries are in Carlyle, so plan ahead for any stay of more than a day.

The park is open all year, but the main season for beaches, camping, golf and services is from the May long weekend to early September, when the campground, the beach facilities, shops and the golf course are staffed. Outside that period, services shrink, some roads and washrooms close, and winter use centres on cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling on marked routes. A vehicle park pass is required in the park - confirm the current rules and price, which may be a day pass or an annual pass. Campground sites are often reservable in advance and fill early for July and August weekends. Confirm hours, fees and seasonal closures with Saskatchewan Parks before you drive.
