Moran State Park

Subnational Park · Olga, Washington

Over five thousand acres on Orcas Island, the largest public recreation area in the San Juans and the fourth largest state park in Washington, given to the state in 1921 by Robert Moran - a Seattle shipbuilder and former mayor who had been told he had a few years to live and then lived another forty. Its centrepiece is Mount Constitution, at 2,409 feet the highest point in the islands, topped by a 1936 CCC stone tower modelled on twelfth-century watchtowers in the Caucasus.

3572 Olga Road, Olga, Washington, 98279, United States

Open year round, 6:30 AM to dusk, with camping seasonal and reservations essential in summer. The road to the Mount Constitution summit is open in daylight hours and closes in snow and ice, which on this summit can happen from November through March. A Discover Pass is required to park.
