Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens
Japanese Garden · Delray Beach, Florida
Sixteen acres of Japanese gardens in Delray Beach, built around the memory of the Yamato Colony — a settlement of Japanese farmers who came to south Florida in 1905 to grow pineapples and were almost entirely gone within twenty years. George Morikami, the last of them, gave his land to the county, and the gardens laid out on it trace six historical Japanese garden styles in sequence.
