Mount Bachelor
Ski Resort · Bend, Oregon
A dormant stratovolcano of 9,068 feet twenty-two miles west of Bend, and the ski area built on it - around 4,300 skiable acres, which makes it one of the largest in the United States by that measure. It is called Bachelor because it stands apart from the Three Sisters to the north. The summit lift reaches the true summit and the terrain runs 360 degrees off the cone, which is unusual, and in summer the same lift carries walkers and downhill mountain bikers.
Southwest Century Drive, Bend, Oregon, 97702, United States
⚠ SEASONAL IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. The winter season typically runs late November into May, often later than other Pacific Northwest resorts. A summer season, roughly July to September, runs the scenic summit lift and the downhill bike park. There is a gap in between with nothing operating. ⚠ THE SUMMIT LIFT CLOSES FREQUENTLY IN HIGH WIND - check the lift status before driving the 22 miles from Bend. Traction devices or chains are required at times on Century Drive and enforced. There is no lodging on the mountain.
