Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest
National Forest · Everett, Washington
Roughly 1.7 million acres running 140 miles along the western Cascades from the Canadian border to the edge of Mount Rainier National Park, and the closest wilderness to four million people - which makes it one of the most heavily day-used national forests in the country. It holds Mount Baker and Glacier Peak, more glaciers than any national forest outside Alaska, and the Mount Baker Ski Area, which recorded 1,140 inches of snow in the 1998-99 season, a world record for a single season that still stands.
1000 SE Everett Mall Way, Suite 410, Everett, Washington, 98208, United States
Open year round, all hours. The high roads are the constraint: the Mount Baker Highway above Heather Meadows and the upper Mountain Loop Highway are closed by snow from roughly November to July, and Artist Point often does not open until late July or August. Ranger stations keep business hours. Check the forest road status page before driving to any trailhead above about 3,000 feet.
