Mount Titlis, Reached From Engelberg By The Titlis Rotair, The World'S First Rotating Cable Car, To The Glacier Cave, The Titlis Cliff Walk (Europe'S Highest Suspension Bridge At 3,041 M) And The Ice Flyer Chairlift. A Day Trip From Lucerne Of About 45 Minutes By Train, With Skiing Year Round On The Glacier. · Engelberg, Obwalden

Mount Titlis is a glaciated peak above Engelberg in central Switzerland, and its summit station on Klein Titlis stands at 3,020 m, reached by a three-stage cable car from the village. The top stage is the Titlis Rotair, the world's first rotating cable car, opened in 1992, whose floor turns a full circle on the climb so everyone sees the glacier. At the top you can walk 10 m into the Glacier Cave, cross the Titlis Cliff Walk, a 100 m suspension bridge at 3,041 m that is the highest in Europe, ride the Ice Flyer chairlift to the glacier park, or stand on the viewing terrace. Engelberg is about an hour by train from Lucerne, so it works as an easy day trip though the whole outing still needs most of a day. The honest picture is a spectacular but expensive and often crowded outing. The summit is in cloud on many days, the middle of the day is busiest, and the ticket costs a lot. Check the webcams, go on the first gondola, bring warm clothes and shoes with grip, and treat the Swiss Travel Pass discount as the way to save money.

The lifts run daily all year, with the first gondola in the morning and the last cable car down in the late afternoon. The Cliff Walk and the Ice Flyer CLOSE in strong wind or storms, and the whole mountain can shut in bad weather. Check the first and last runs locally.
