Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago

Art Museum · Chicago, Illinois

One of the largest contemporary art institutions in the United States, founded in 1967 in a former bakery and rehoused in 1996 in a severe grey building by the German architect Josef Paul Kleihues, a block east of the Magnificent Mile. It collects and shows work made since 1945, runs a serious performance programme in its own theatre, and its back window looks straight out over a sculpture garden to Lake Michigan.

220 East Chicago Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, 60611, United States

CLOSED MONDAYS. Generally Tuesday to Sunday, roughly 10 AM - 5 PM with a later evening opening one day a week.
