Museum of History & Industry
History Museum · Seattle, Washington
Seattle's city history museum, in the 1942 Naval Reserve Armory on the south shore of Lake Union - a building that was itself nearly demolished. It is the largest private heritage organisation in the state, holding close to four million objects, and its permanent galleries run the fire, the Klondike outfitting boom, Boeing, the 1962 World's Fair and the software money. The atrium hangs a 1919 Boeing seaplane above the floor, and the top-floor windows look straight down the lake.
860 Terry Avenue North, Seattle, Washington, 98109, United States
Generally 10 AM to 5 PM daily with a later evening on the first Thursday of the month. Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. There is no museum car park - South Lake Union parking is paid garages and metered street, and the South Lake Union Streetcar stops nearby.
