Museum of Modern Art
Art Museum · New York, New York
Founded in 1929, nine days after the Wall Street Crash, by three women who thought New York needed a museum for art that was still being made. MoMA effectively wrote the canon of twentieth-century art — it was the first museum to treat film, photography, design and architecture as collectable — and it holds Van Gogh's The Starry Night, Picasso's Les Demoiselles d'Avignon and Monet's Water Lilies triptych in one building on West 53rd Street.
11 West 53rd Street, New York, New York, 10019, United States
