Musical Instrument Museum
Non Profit Museum · Phoenix, Arizona
A museum in north Phoenix, opened in 2010, that shows musical instruments from nearly every country in the world, billed as the largest museum of its kind. Visitors wear wireless headsets that automatically play video and music of each instrument being performed as they walk up to the displays, so a visit sounds as much as it looks. Galleries cover every region of the world, famous musicians' instruments, mechanical music and a room where anyone can play. A concert theatre hosts touring musicians. It was founded by Robert Ulrich, a former Target chief executive, and its conservation lab can be watched through a window.
4725 East Mayo Boulevard, Phoenix, Arizona, 85050, United States
