Myakka River State Park

Florida State Park · Sarasota, Florida

One of the oldest and largest state parks in Florida — 37,000 acres of wetland, prairie and oak hammock built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. A canopy walkway strung 25 feet up in the treetops leads to a 74-foot tower, the airboats on the Upper Lake are among the largest in the world, and the alligator density at the weir in the dry season is genuinely startling.

13208 State Road 72, Sarasota, Florida, 34241, United States

Open 8:00 a.m. until sundown, 365 days a year. Airboat and tram tours run on their own schedules and sell out in winter.
