From late autumn into spring it becomes known for its winter illumination, one of the largest in Japan, with a long tunnel of lights, lit fields and a themed display - confirm what is on this year. The park is built around crowds, with shops, restaurants and a hot spring bath close by. It suits couples, families and anyone who likes seasonal colour or lights, and it is a common evening stop from Nagoya. The entry ticket usually comes with a voucher you can spend in the park - confirm. It is worth the trip in the illumination season and during the main flower weeks, and less so in a flat summer or on a rainy weekday. Allow three to four hours in all, longer at night.
