Nakusp Hot Springs

Hot Spring Pools In A Forest Setting Above The Arrow Lakes, With A Hot And A Warm Pool, A Log Chalet And Campground, Popular With Kootenay Travellers In The Cooler Months. A Quiet Spring In The Slocan And Arrow Lakes Region · Nakusp, British Columbia

Nakusp Hot Springs lies in the forested Selkirk Mountains above the Arrow Lakes, about 12 km north-east of the village of Nakusp in southeastern British Columbia. Two mineral pools, one hot and one warm, are fed by natural spring water and set among cedar, hemlock and fir with views across the valley. The springs have drawn Sinixt, settlers and later travellers since at least the early 1900s, and the site today has a log chalet, a campground and a small cafe that give it the feel of an old backcountry resort. Unlike the large resorts of the Rockies, the pools are modest, quiet and more about soaking than splashing, and they are especially pleasant on a cold or snowy day. The road in is paved but winding, and the springs make a good stop on a trip between Revelstoke, the Slocan Valley and the Kootenay lakes. The pools are best visited with some time to spare, and confirm hours, prices and winter road conditions before you set out.

The pools are commonly open daily for day use from morning to late evening, with later closing in summer and earlier closing in winter, though cleaning closures, holiday hours and maintenance breaks change the schedule (confirm before driving). The chalet front desk keeps office hours for check-in, and the cafe, where it operates, keeps limited seasonal hours. The campground is commonly open in summer with some winter sites (confirm). Winter road conditions can close the hill road for short periods, and spring melt can bring wet and muddy ground to the paths, so call ahead for conditions and the last entry time.
