National Botanical Garden
Botanical Garden · Dhaka, Dhaka
The national botanical garden at Mirpur: some eighty-plus hectares of collections, avenues, ponds and half-wild corners on the capital's northwestern edge, established in 1961 and grown since into the country's principal living plant collection - palms, bamboos, medicinal beds, rose and seasonal gardens, orchid and cactus houses of varying repair, and enough canopy to make it one of Dhaka's best birding patches. It is a working scientific garden run on public-garden energy: families, joggers, botany students and birders share it, and the visit scales from a shaded hour to a full wandering morning.
