National Constitution Center
History Museum · Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
The only museum in the United States devoted to the Constitution, chartered by Congress in 1988 and opened on Independence Mall in 2003 a few hundred yards from the room where the document was written. Its centrepiece is Signers Hall, where the forty-two delegates present on the final day stand as life-size bronzes and visitors walk among them, and its opening presentation is performed live by an actor in a theatre-in-the-round rather than shown on film. It takes the unusual position of presenting constitutional arguments from both sides rather than settling them.
525 Arch Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19106, United States
Open most days, generally 10 AM to 5 PM with reduced days in winter and closure on major holidays. Timed Freedom Rising performances run through the day and are included with admission. Tickets are cheaper online than at the door.
