Bureau Of Land Management Interpretive Center · Casper, Wyoming

A Bureau of Land Management museum on a hill above Casper about the four great routes that converged near the North Platte River here: the Oregon, California and Mormon Pioneer trails and the Pony Express. Visitors climb into a wagon for a simulated river crossing, try a handcart and sit in a stagecoach, alongside emigrant diaries, artefacts and a large-screen film. It is the natural place to start before driving west to Independence Rock and Martin's Cove, and admission has been free. It closed for repairs in 2026 and reopened on 28 July 2026, opening Tuesday to Saturday. It is the natural first stop before Independence Rock, Martin's Cove and the ruts further along the trails.

1501 North Poplar Street, Casper, Wyoming, 82601, United States

Reopened 28 July 2026 after repairs. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 9:30 AM-5 PM (Mountain Time); closed Sunday, Monday and federal holidays (check). Check the Bureau of Land Management website before travelling.
