National Museum of African American Music

Specialty Museum · Nashville, Tennessee

The only museum in the United States devoted solely to African American music across every genre it produced — more than fifty of them, from spirituals and the blues through jazz, gospel, R&B, rock and roll and hip hop. It opened in 2021 in a purpose-built space at the corner of Fifth and Broadway in Nashville, deliberately at the top of the honky-tonk strip rather than away from it, and it is built around interactive galleries in which visitors sing, mix and record rather than read.

510 Broadway, Nashville, Tennessee, 37203, United States

Generally open most days, roughly 10 AM - 5 PM, with some weekday closures outside peak season — verify the current opening days before travelling. Closed on major holidays. Inside the Fifth + Broadway development with its own parking garage.
