National Museum of the Marine Corps

Specialty Museum · Triangle, Virginia

The Marine Corps' national museum, opened in 2006 beside the base at Quantico, under a 210-foot tilted steel mast and glass atrium that reads as the flag being raised on Mount Suribachi from half a mile up Interstate 95. Admission and parking are free, and the combat galleries are built as immersions rather than cases — the Chosin Reservoir hall is refrigerated, and the Vietnam gallery puts you in the door of a Huey on approach.

18900 Jefferson Davis Highway, Triangle, Virginia, 22172, United States

Open daily 9 AM - 5 PM. Closed 25 December. Admission and parking free.
