National Museum of the Pacific War

History Museum · Fredericksburg, Texas

The only institution in the continental United States dedicated exclusively to the Pacific Theater of the Second World War, occupying six acres in the middle of Fredericksburg because this is the boyhood home of Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz, who commanded the Pacific Fleet. A Smithsonian affiliate, it is built around the George H. W. Bush Gallery, the Admiral Nimitz Gallery in the family's old steamboat-shaped hotel, and an outdoor Pacific Combat Zone.
