National September 11 Memorial and Museum

Memorial · New York, New York

Two acre-sized reflecting pools sunk into the footprints of the North and South Towers, with the names of every person killed in the 2001 and 1993 attacks cut through the bronze parapets around them, and a museum seven storeys below ground at the level of the original foundations. The memorial plaza is free and open to anyone; the museum is a separate, ticketed, deliberately difficult experience.
