A quiet stretch of Santa Rosa Island between Pensacola Beach and Fort Walton, hemmed in on both sides by Gulf Islands National Seashore so that the development never got beyond a few miles. It markets itself as Florida's Most Relaxing Place, which is the sort of claim that usually means nothing and here is broadly accurate, and its fishing pier is the longest in the Gulf of Mexico.
