Negro Leagues Baseball Museum
Specialty Museum · Kansas City, Missouri
The only museum in the world dedicated to the Negro Leagues, founded in 1990 in a one-room office at 18th & Vine and now occupying a purpose-built space in the same district - the centre of Black cultural life in Kansas City in the first half of the twentieth century, and where the Negro National League was founded in 1920. The museum is built around a full-size baseball diamond with bronze statues at each position, which you cannot walk onto until you have gone through the history that produced it.
1616 East 18th Street, Kansas City, Missouri, 64108, United States
Generally 10 AM to 6 PM Tuesday to Saturday and afternoons on Sunday, CLOSED MONDAYS. Closed major holidays. It shares a building with the American Jazz Museum at 18th & Vine and the two sell a combination ticket, which is the sensible buy if you have the time.
