Art Museum · New York, New York

A museum of early twentieth-century German and Austrian art in a 1914 Carrère and Hastings mansion on Fifth Avenue, founded in 2001 by Ronald Lauder and the dealer Serge Sabarsky. It holds GUSTAV KLIMT'S PORTRAIT OF ADELE BLOCH-BAUER I — the 'Woman in Gold' recovered from Austria in 2006 after a landmark restitution case, bought by Lauder for a then-record $135 million and placed here permanently.
