Newbury Street
Promenade · Boston, Massachusetts
Eight blocks of Victorian brownstone in Boston's Back Bay, running from the Public Garden west to Massachusetts Avenue, where the houses were converted into shops, galleries and restaurants without much altering the fronts — so the street reads as a residential terrace that happens to be retail. It grades reliably as you walk it: international luxury at the Public Garden end, independent shops, record stores and student cafes by the time you reach Mass Ave.
Newbury Street, Boston, Massachusetts, 02116, United States
A public street, always open and free to walk. Shops generally 10 or 11 AM to 6 or 7 PM; restaurants through the evening. It is a shopping and dining street rather than a nightlife district and quietens in the evening. Sidewalk cafe seating runs roughly May to October. Green Line to Arlington, Copley or Hynes — parking is expensive and scarce.
