Newton Hills State Park

Subnational Park · Canton, South Dakota

A thousand acres of genuine hardwood forest on the Coteau des Prairies in the far south-east corner of the state, which is rarer in South Dakota than it sounds - most of the eastern half is farmland, and this is one of the few substantial pieces of woodland left. It sits at 1,309 feet with real hills, a lake, camping cabins and about a dozen miles of trail, forty minutes from Sioux Falls.

482nd Avenue, Canton, South Dakota, 57013, United States

Open year round for day use and camping. ⚠ A SOUTH DAKOTA PARK ENTRANCE LICENCE IS REQUIRED, charged per vehicle. Swimming, the camping cabins and some facilities are SEASONAL. It is twelve miles east of Interstate 29 and south of Canton, which makes it the closest real woodland to Sioux Falls.
