Neyland Stadium

Stadium · Knoxville, Tennessee

The University of Tennessee's football stadium, opened in 1921 and expanded until it seats over a hundred thousand people — one of the largest stadiums in the United States and in the world. It sits on the bank of the Tennessee River, which produces the thing nothing else in American sport has: the Vol Navy, a flotilla of boats that ties up at the stadium docks on game day and tailgates on the water. The end zones are painted in orange and white checkerboard.

1235 Phillip Fulmer Way, Knoxville, Tennessee, 37996, United States

Home football Saturdays from late August to late November. Not open for walk-up visits on non-game days; group tours are arranged through the athletics department. The riverfront greenway beneath the stadium is open year round.
