The only fully restored Nike Hercules missile site in the United States, in the Marin Headlands above the Golden Gate. Cold War air defence rings surrounded every major American city and almost all of them were bulldozed; this one has its underground magazine, its launch elevator and its missiles intact, and volunteers who served on sites like it raise a missile to the surface for visitors.
