Nordhouse Dunes Wilderness

The only federally designated wilderness dune area on the Great Lakes, roughly thirty-four hundred acres of open sand, ridge and forest along Lake Michigan north of Ludington. There are no marked trails, no facilities and no development of any kind, and it sits immediately beside one of the busiest state parks in Michigan, which almost nobody realises.
