A 2,000-acre site in Macon, Georgia preserving over 17,000 years of continuous human habitation — one of the longest in North America. The park's centerpiece is a complex of massive Mississippian-period earthen mounds built around 900-1100 AD by ancestors of the Muscogee (Creek) people.
