Ogden Museum of Southern Art

Art Museum · New Orleans, Louisiana

The largest collection of Southern art anywhere, built on Roger Ogden's private holdings and opened in the Warehouse District in 2003. It takes the American South as a subject rather than a region to be condescended to — self-taught and outsider work alongside trained painters, photography, craft and contemporary practice, from the nineteenth century to now. It is across the street from the WWII Museum and a fraction of its visitor numbers, and ITS THURSDAY EVENING MUSIC SESSIONS ARE ONE OF THE BEST STANDING EVENTS IN NEW ORLEANS.

925 Camp Street, New Orleans, Louisiana, 70130, United States

Admission charged with reductions for students, seniors, children, military and Louisiana residents. CLOSED ON SOME WEEKDAYS — historically Tuesdays — so check before travelling. No booking needed for individuals. OGDEN AFTER HOURS runs on Thursday evenings with live music in the atrium and the galleries open, ticketed separately at a modest price, and it sells out. Photography is restricted in most special exhibitions. Paid parking in the Warehouse District only.
