Ohio River Scenic Byway in Indiana
Scenic Highway · Leavenworth, Indiana
A National Scenic Byway running roughly 300 miles along the whole southern edge of Indiana, from Lawrenceburg near the Ohio line west to Mount Vernon near the Illinois line, following the river through the hill country that the glaciers never flattened. It passes the first state capital at Corydon, the river port at Madison, the Falls of the Ohio, Angel Mounds and a succession of small river towns, and it is the only sustained stretch of genuinely scenic driving in the state. The byway continues as separately signed routes through Ohio and Illinois.
Indiana State Road 56 and 66 corridor, Leavenworth, Indiana, 47137, United States
The byway is a public highway, open at all times. Sections may close after Ohio River flooding, mainly in late winter and spring. Individual attractions along it keep their own hours and several close on Mondays.
