Ohio River Valley Wine Region
Wine Region · Morrow, Ohio
The hills above the Ohio River east of Cincinnati, where Nicholas Longworth planted Catawba in the 1820s and built what became, by the 1850s, the largest wine industry in the United States. Rot and mildew destroyed it within a decade and the vines never fully came back — what survives is a scattering of wineries carrying a national story that almost nobody in America now remembers.

Tasting rooms keep their own hours; the larger wineries open most days year-round and the smaller ones are frequently weekend-only or by arrangement. Check individually before travelling.
