Old Baker Farm
Working Farm · Harpersville, Alabama
A working family farm at Harpersville, east of Birmingham, that has been in the same family since the 1880s and opens to the public through the autumn. The distinctive thing here is not the pumpkin patch or the corn maze, which every farm has, but the COTTON — visitors are given a sack and sent into a real field to pick it by hand, which in Alabama is a considerably more loaded experience than a hayride and which the farm handles as agriculture rather than as nostalgia.
