Old Mill District
Promenade · Bend, Oregon
About 270 acres of the Deschutes riverfront in Bend that were the two largest pine mills in the world in the 1920s, closed in the 1990s and were rebuilt from the 1990s onward as a shopping, dining and events district. Three of the old smokestacks still stand over the shops that replaced the mill. The river runs through the middle of it with a paved path on both banks, and the Hayden Homes Amphitheater on the west side is central Oregon's main outdoor concert venue.
Southwest Powerhouse Drive, Bend, Oregon, 97702, United States
The district and the river path are open at all hours and are free. Shops and restaurants keep normal retail and dining hours, later in summer. ⚠ THE HAYDEN HOMES AMPHITHEATER SCHEDULE DOMINATES THE DISTRICT ON SHOW NIGHTS - parking fills hours ahead and restaurants book out; check it before planning an ordinary evening. The summer float season runs roughly July to September, and the district lights the riverside trees through December. Note that the official website blocks automated requests and returns an error to them, but serves normally in an ordinary browser.
