Old Orchard Beach
Beach Town · Old Orchard Beach, Maine
A resort town of about nine thousand on seven miles of sand south of Portland, and the closest thing Maine has to a traditional seaside resort. A wooden pier runs out over the water, an old-fashioned amusement park sits behind the beach, and the whole place has been doing this since the railway arrived in the nineteenth century. It is loud, cheerful, unpretentious and completely unlike the rest of the Maine coast - which is the point of it.
2 Old Orchard Street, Old Orchard Beach, Maine, 04064, United States
